Earth News Atlas is a news and reference app. This policy explains how the app handles data and how we protect user privacy.

1. Information handling

1.1 Information you provide

Earth News Atlas can be used without creating an account. We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number, or similar account details.

1.2 Information processed automatically

• No advertising tracking SDK is integrated.
• The app does not request location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone permissions.
• Your favorites and browsing history are not uploaded by the app.

When news content is requested, servers or third-party news services may process necessary network request information under their own infrastructure rules.

2. How information is used

Data is used only to:

• Provide and improve news aggregation features.
• Load public news, historical records, images, and geographic coordinates.
• Store favorites, browsing history, and cache state locally on your device.
• Earth News Atlas does not use this data for targeted advertising and does not sell it to third parties.

3. Third-party services

Earth News Atlas may use these services to fetch public content or cached records:

• Supabase Edge Function for server-side cache.
• GNews (gnews.io).
• NewsData.io (newsdata.io).
• Mediastack (mediastack.com).
• Hacker News, public RSS feeds, and Wikidata historical data.

These services return public news text, image links, or historical-event data. When cache is unavailable or a fallback path is used, the app may directly access public news sources.

4. Local storage

• Favorites and browsing history are stored locally on your device.
• Read-story state is used for deduplication and interface state.
• You can clear browsing history in the app, and uninstalling the app removes local data.

5. Children privacy

Earth News Atlas is intended for a general audience. It is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

This policy may be updated as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
